1974 Brisbane Flood Map

Prior to the January 2011 flood, the last major flood incident in Brisbane was the much talked about 1974 flood. Many people want to know what parts of Brisbane were flooded back then.

Below is a link to a flood map that illustrates the areas of inundation. Note that the red line indicates the 1974 flood level and the coloured areas are the theoretical levels had the flood been of a different depth.

As you can see there were some vast areas of inundation, especially around Rocklea (the large blue area towards the bottom of the plan) which of course was inundated again this time around, but on the whole a lot of Brisbane was spared.
